Do not go outside. Do not look at the sky. Do not make noise.
After a chilling Silent Hill-esque siren noise, these words are your first impression when starting the science-fiction podcast “The Phenomenon“, and I freaking love it.
Good day friends!
Today I wanted to share an awesome new podcast with you all, because I binge-listened to it in one evening and squealed with delight once the latest episode was released. That’s how I figured out that it was a worthy suggestion for anyone looking for a new serial-fiction podcast.
If there’s a type of story that gets me hooked immediately, it’s when the world as we know it ends and humans are forced to survive, endure and fight for the survival of our species. What makes it even better is when you introduce supernatural forces that prove that they didn’t travel all that way to make nice and be friends.
Episodes are roughly 20 minutes long, and follow the struggles of people from all around the world, where each story line adds a piece of information to build a fuller picture of what is happening during the invasion.
I have to say that I’ve listened to a lot of fictional podcasts and tend to be fairly picky when it comes to audio quality and sound design, because I feel like that’s the kind of thing that makes or breaks the experience of the listener. I’m happy to report that “The Phenomenon” does not disappoint, and is not only really sound-rich, but the voice actors (of which there are many!) are diverse and very talented, so it’s easy to get wrapped up in the story.
I cannot wait to hear what happens next as the story continues to unfold, and strongly recommend that you start listening to this podcast when you’re sitting in your car, in the dark, in a new place so that you’re out of your comfort zone. Okay, those things aren’t totally necessary, but it’s how I started listening to it and trust me, it really adds to the ambience of the whole end of the world thing.
Head on over to your favorite podcast app and subscribe to the “The Phenomenon” and tell me what you think! Comment below with your thoughts, or come find me on Twitter (@podcastmind) or on Facebook. I also love getting suggestions for new listening, so feel free to tell me about your favorite podcasts.
Until next time friends,
