And That’s Why We Drink

Good day podcast world!

It’s a beautiful, freezing cold day here in Western Canada, and I write this bundled up in front of my fireplace with hot coffee within reach. Today’s post was going to be something completely different, but I recently started listening to a new podcast.

Because of this, I have been caught in some kind of time warp where I have to play one episode right after the other. Before I’ve realized it, I’ve listened to 20 episodes, I’m pretty sure I’m good friends with the hosts and I’ve made a serious dent in my wine stock. I feel like that’s a good sign that this podcast is worth checking out. What is this you speak of, you say? And That’s Why We Drink, of course!

And That’s Why We Drink is a podcast where true crime meets the paranormal, and it is an excellent combination. With their wine and milkshake of choice for the week, hosts and best friends Em and Christine each take us through a hauntingly entertaining story they’ve researched.

I really enjoy their back and forth and always find myself laughing with/at them, while they take me through a paranormal and murder case in each episode. Something that I like about this podcast, is that they always tend to share something about themselves and their lives, which makes you feel like you’re hanging out with a couple of your friends, while also hearing about something horrific that makes you afraid of being alone. So I guess it’s kind of a win-lose situation if you actually are alone, and something they talked about really disturbs you.

I have really enjoyed the Listener Stories episodes, which I think are my favorites, where (spoiler alert) they collect listener experiences and share them with the rest of us. Some of these stories are about lost loved ones watching over who they’ve left behind, but mostly it’s about things you would never ever want to have happen to you.

If you’re not sure where to start, I recommend episode 4: Demon Pigs and a Call from Tamara, where they talk about the infamous and completely creepy Amityville Haunting and the mysterious unsolved case of the Sodder children, who have been missing since 1945 after a fire destroyed the family home. They cover a wide range of cases and topics, and I have no doubt that you would find an episode that would peak your interest.

So go and check out And That’s Why We Drink and comment below what you think! Also feel free to suggest your favorite podcast and I’ll go and listen to it and maybe write about it.

Until next time, take care and have fun listening!
