The Best Halloween Podcast Episodes of 2017

Happy (belated) Halloween podcast world!

The most wonderfully haunting time of year has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still experience Halloween cheer.  It’s during this season that many of my favorite podcasts release special Halloween episodes, or just like to scare us all year round. In celebration of this most scary time of year, I wanted to give you all recommendations of the best listening for increasing your heart rate, sweating profusely and crying yourself to sleep. So, read on, and tune your podcast apps to these fear-inducing episodes!
Spooked
From Snap Judgment and WNYC Studios comes Spooked, a podcast that showcases people’s first-hand experiences of the unusual or supernatural.  Although every episode of this podcast is appropriate for a scary good time, the one stood out to me is “The Summoning”. All the stories in the episode are really interesting but the one that really gave me the creeps was the ‘Dollhouse’ story, which I listened to by myself on a late-night drive and regretted that decision immediately.
NoSleep
As you all know from my very first post, NoSleep is pretty much one of the best podcasts out there, where you can enjoy horror anthologies all year round. They also produce special Halloween episodes every year, and 2017 is no different. As a season pass member, you get 5 delicious hours of bone-chilling content that includes a bonus episode and the recorded version of the live performance they did this year in Toronto, which would have been a super cool story to be apart of the audience for. In short, it’s awesome and you won’t be disappointed.
Jim Harold’s Campfire
This is a podcast I recently came across when looking for Halloween specials, and I’m so glad to have stumbled across it! It’s a call-in show that kind of has a “Coast to Coast AM” feel, where people talk about their strange or paranormal stories. The Halloween special features some of the hosts’ all time favorite stories, and is the perfect podcast to listen to in the dead of night when you’re all alone…you think.
Generation Why
For those of you not familiar with this podcast, it primarily features true crime, although the hosts have covered widely known conspiracies or other mysterious events. The episode you need to go and listen to right now is “The Scream Murder”, which is a real-life case where the killers used the well-known horror flick Scream as motivation to commit a brutal murder. This episode features stuff out of nightmares that actually happened, which is what makes it so scary.
Astonishing Legends
This podcast is the only one that managed to actually give me nightmares this year, and it was because of their Black Eyed Kids episodes. People talk about their first-hand accounts of their encounters with these strange children who immediately make you feel dread in the pit of your stomach. So, when you hear a knock at your door in the dead of night, whatever you do, don’t invite them in…
So, friends, rush to your podcast app and check out my suggestions. Don’t forget to let me know what you think and if you have a listening recommendation for me, comment on this post or email me at podcastmind@gmail.com. You can also find me on Facebook or Twitter
